Four Simple Words to Help You Live Well.png

The Four Simple Words

1. Move

2. Nourish

3. Refresh

4. Connect

The remainder of the course is based on these plus 5. Work, 6. Save (Money), and 7. Learn. Every learning module will have a reading assignment with an associated writing assignment where we summarize in one paragraph or more how it applies to our life.

Life Planning

  1. Move

  2. Nourish

  3. Refresh

  4. Connect

  5. Work

  6. Save (Money)

  7. Learn

3. Life Planning Components, in order of importance

  1. Accountability Partner you talk to about your goals monthly, at a minimum.

  2. Monthly Meeting with your Accountability Partner with a simple (1-page) written agenda and minutes (see MAMA Meeting Management (pfcs.co/g8pg).

  3. Weekly Planning (PFCS Weekly Planning Method Article (pfcs.co/dpfw)) in writing, including identification of your “One Thing" (https://www.the1thing.com/ "The ONE Thing you can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary.")

  4. Weekly Check-In with your Accountability Partner.

  5. Annual Goals (Plan), a 1-9 item SMART (Specific, Measurable, Assertive, Realistic, and Timed) list (PFCS Blog: "A Sensible List" (pfcs.co/959q)) including your “One Thing“ (THIS NEEDS AN ARTICLE)

  6. Life Plan: Outline/Summary, including 1. Move, 2. Nourish, 3. Refresh, 4. Connect, 5. Work, and 6. Save (Money). Plus (Bonus) 7. Learn.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that you look at monthly, or more. These should be in a Sensible List (PFCS Blog: “Everybody Has A Plan... Using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to Succeed” 11/23/2015 (pfcs.co/zcyg)).

Consider using this “level one” sample list:

1. Move: Workout 3 times per week.

2. Nourish: Eat “Mediterranean Diet” meals 5 days per week.

3. Refresh: Sleep in late, sip coffee, and read the news most Sunday mornings.

4. Connect: Family dinner once per month.

5. Work: Earn a 10% raise this year.

6. Save (Money): Save 10% of my gross income.

7. Learn: Read one business book per quarter.

8. Life Plan: Narrative. Consider these first draft “level-two” (A, B, C) outline items:

B. Run 2X/week

C. Walk >10,000 steps with friends 2X/week

Things to Add and/or Emphasize

  1. Use “visual management” to remind ourselves constantly of the goal

  2. “Peer pressure” can be either good or bad.

  3. This process is iterative; that is, cycle throughout the process from beginning to end over and over and over, endlessly.

  4. “What’s the next bottleneck?” The One Thing.

  5. The Scientific Method. The Cannon.

  6. Constant “redirection” is critical. This is what the Weekly Meeting is for.
